Victories
We went down the Amstel by boat; I pointed out Mulligans and said,
“That has been the site of some of my finest victories”
I played there on stage with good friends of mine,
Songs I’d written and songs I love.
Drank free Guinness all evening,
Playing and chatting in the intervals,
And getting drunk as handcarts.
An audience that clapped and cheered and sometimes asked for more.
At the end of the evening having a last one with the staff.
And being paid well and being asked to come back,
“Everyone enjoyed it”.
A true victory is when everyone wins.
